You missed the humor on this one. If you do a forum search on ambulance engine, you'll get it.

A Vette Ambulance motor?
You can tell an ambulance motor by the numbers on the front of the block right away. They`re stamped backwards!

Ok, now maybe the joke will be on me.. Vortec rods? It's a GM Goodwrench motor that was bought in 2001. I was actually surprised to see it had 4 bolt main caps. Knew right away it must have been meant for an ambulance.

But seriously, Vortec rods?

Thats good, those are better than 6 inch Hemi rods. Ed Pink designed them and they go best with a "high nickel content block"

Good eye on the Corvette pistons. I noticed also that it didn't get the wooden cam option. My neighbor had one of those in a special high performance hearse engine and with the open pipes I'll never forget the WOT drone of it passing by,

WOOOOOODEN!!!!

Re: Found out I got an ambulance motor!

Those rods are "powdered metal" rods, because of how they are made. Common to newer motors, including "crate" motors. Good Stuff.
