Question Dash light relay? How to keep them bright??

Well i finally got Whitey all wired up and running. While fine tuning tonight i noticed the light grow brighter the higher RPMs.

Anyone try to run a relay or direct run the lights to keep them bright all the time??

I'm figuring on rigging up a head light relay, will this help?? It should shouldn't it??

ttt

Well i've got all the lights on. Seems some of these bulbs will burn out after 30 years or so.

Maybe a capasitor or something. Hold the voltage inline like a vacume box.

If i knew any better i'd be doing better.

Re: Dash light relay? How to keep them bright??

a relay won't help this because it is still getting power from the alt. which is supplying slightly varying voltages at different RPMs

Leds are a good idea. I'll look into it.

Anyone ever run some sort of rig to stabilize the dash lights??

Yes, its called a Hi-Output internally regulated alternator.

Re: Dash light relay? How to keep them bright??

Hey, GM didn't go overboard with their spending on these trucks just enough to get by and barely that. That and mechanical voltage regulators and you get dim lights and fluctations at low RPM. Thats why so many of us upgrade to a higher output internally regulated (read electronically regulated) alternator, bigger wires (most of my engine compartment is rerouted\rewired) and relays on all the higher powered items. Dash lights don't draw enough power to benefit from a relay.
