Cool Newbie Here

Hi y'all..

I live in Vegas...

I have two trucks, 1964 GMC and a 62 Chevy.

Both in different states. THe 64 is a long term project with my 13 year old son, taking it apart over the next two years and rebuild it with modifiations.

The 62 short bed fleetside is/was running..lol.. I am in the process of putting in power steering, ididit column new gauges, wiring and wheels/tires. I already have 350/350, discs on all fours, ford 9 inch rear end, 2.5 inch drop spindles in front, 4 inch drops in rear. THinking of leaving the outtside ugly, but want to do bed and add air after the others are done and fix up the engine a bit.. oh and change gears.. probaly to 3.50 or something close from the 2.90 in it now. the wheels I have are 18x8 do prob 255/45 on front and 275 or 285/40 on rear... if will fit on 8 inch wheels. Oh yea.. 60' grill

the 64 long bed stepside...has a 350/350, thats really about it.. poor job that previous owner did on all kinds of stuff.. had to use plasma cutter to cut out 1/4 inch thick diamond plate metal bed (all kinds of welds to rails), after finally removed that found that the welder happy previous owner welded the bed rails too... oh joy. but the 1970 corvette 375 hp 4 bolt main motor is kinda cool . just taking it apart down to frame... might consider selling for 63... the rear end was chaged not sure what it is... the owner claimed Dana.. but doesn't look like it to me, just haven't really checked yet. Oh and I have correct grill

I restored a 1980 Hallett boat last year... been wanting to do a car or truck.. now I have two!..lol

glad to find this site!

Re: Newbie Here

Thanks everyone!

62 is going to remain ugly on the outside... at least for now.. the inside will be sweet, as well as under the hood. Very solid truck... only thing is the inside of the cab where the door meets the cab.. thsoe will have to be cut out and replaced. The front fenders could be too.,.. but what for..lol... the iside is wher I ride... hehe

64 whoever owned it.. did some odd stuff... and cut the frame to put new drive shaft in... and welded the bed and all the rails in... there is rust in the bottom coroners of the cab (usual place... will ave to be cut out and fixed. other than very cool shape.. but this will be a frame off resto-modified.

Re: Newbie Here

Welcome from SE New Mexico. You gonna keep the 62 Chevy grille on the GMC or swap it out for a 60-66 GMC one?

Re: Newbie Here

I have a good grille. Eventually I'll try to find a good GMC one but not today. There are probably several guys on here who will probably buy it from you. Just make sure you're a site supporter before you go to sell it. Forum rules

Welcome aboard from Colorado! I agree, leave it 'ugly,' and I dig the paint on the hood of the '62.

Incidentally, I have a plate from each Canuck province, from my college-days travels, and before y'all were terrorists NW Territories is the coolest plate though.
