what should i do with these rims?
i think they are ruined, at least the chrome. so until i get some new ones i was thinking of powder coating them gloss black, we have a really good powdercoating place here for 15 bucks a rim, what do you guys think?

You'll need to sandblast them prior to powdercoating. Looks like you will have pits from the rust...which will show when powdercoated...especially in a gloss finish.
I like Cragar SS rims, but not sure how they would look painted or 'coated.

powder coat the spokes gunmetal, and powder coat the lip brushed

By the time you pay some one to blast them and PC them, couldn't you buy some new ones? I havn't priced SS's in a LONG time, but they used to be reasonable.

thats cheap for $15 each i was told over $200 to powder coat red a pedal car body in red id say go for it

Go for it, your only out $60 --- i've spent more than that on beer in the last week.
I do think an aluminum or brushed color like that falcon up there -- would look better on an old SS though -- or a 2 tone

Most PC outfit's have a "chrome" finish you could do them in that as well but i like that brushed satin finish too.
Even if you spent a 100 bux to do it you'd still be ahead plus you don't see many of the original Cragar s/s wheels around now day's. What ever finish you choose we want to see some pic's of 'em when there done! |
