I am having a hard time lining up my door gaps. it seems as though i am going to have to put washers inbetween the hinge and the door to move the door towards the rear of the cab. is this right? also i was told before by a body guy the first thing you should line up panel wise is the doors. again is this correct? Has anybody had this problem before and can tell me if i am doing the right thing.

You may. I had to use some spacers/washers with mine. Mostly LOTS of patience.

I put a aftermarket door on a friends truck and the door did'nt have the right gap it fit to close to the front so i made a shim the amount i wanted to move it back to line with the cab and if you put the cowl grill on and bolt it to line with the cab post will help lining the door to get the body lines right.

Did you start with lining up the doors before the rest of the body panels?

Yes, start with the doors, because they line up with the unmoveable cab and then everything else lines up with them,

yell line the doors first like i say use the cowl grille to line the crease on it and the one on the cab and then install the fenders and line the crease on the fender to the door

cool thanks guys. how much of a gap do you have between the door and the rear of the cab? i want the smallest gap possible

I would cut a spacer(s) the size and shape of the hinge surface once the required thickness is determined. That way the contact area is maintained. I have never done this. It just seems right to me, but I tend to over think things. I also have a fuzzy line between brilliance and memory. Have I seen this in someones build thread?

our trucks never had the best door gaps straight from the factory.......I think it would take quite a bit of work to get nice tight gaps.....good luck with the project......
