New Toy 1968 SB BB

Well I purcased a a 68 Shortbed Big Block from a fellow board member earlier this month and have started my restoration.
Heres a link to the prvious thread:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=140394

It ended up being a 2 day trip (17 hours getting home!) and 2 flat tires later. I got it home and started in on it the next day.... I am doing a fairly stock resto.. I think it deserves it. I am adding buddy buckets and a tilt wheel. I have some lowered springs for it also.

I have always wanted to do a total frame off. I have had about 6, 67-72 trucks and blazers and have restored all of them , but not to this extent, so I may have some questions for fellow board members.

Everyone thinks I am nuts and calls it a piece of junk, But I can see the JEM under all the grease & dirt! I will try and give updates as I progress!

It seemed like he would never sell it. She belonged to his dad, he was stoked, just curious what happened? I guess it does not matter, it is a rare truck. Glad to hear your doing a complete frame off. I'll watch your posts.

Re: New Toy 1968 SB BB

You know how it is you get all fired up on a project and things change and you lose interest. My goal is to have it rolling and in primer by the end of summer or sooner. I read somewhere that the average frame off project takes between 2-4 years to complete..I hope I can keep to my goal.

Re: New Toy 1968 SB BB

I'd been wondering what happened to that truck. Good to see he sold it instead of letting it rot in pieces.

That is a great truck to restore. I must be nuts too.
It's a factory 396, right?

It's good to see someone back on that truck and motivated. Its too rare to not get a second chance. I think it deserves a close to stock resto. Good for you.

Do you sleep?
I have no doubt that's going to be a great truck when you are done. And you are crusing right along!

While it is true that if you pick a fight with the lady you will have more shop time, but it comes at a price......You get no real play time.

Thanks for the pic - those are some nice caps! I was referring to the smaller, Camaro/Nova caps on the original pictures
