Someone please tell me the difference between 63 -70, 71-72 and 73 -up balljoints. I was told the best and cheapest way to go was to convert my 69 to 73-up front suspension (a-arms, spindles, and tie rod)but it seems most drop spindles convert the ball joints to 73-up balljoint and tie rod ends anyway. By the what is different with the tie rod ends. Need advice please.

The later model parts are cheaper and seem to be more readily available.You can get the spindles in any year and in a drop of 2 1/2 or 3 inch or stock height.The differences are usually in how much drop you want and pricing.Also remember that price is only a part of the equation since the weight of the spindles and brakes makes shipping quite costly.

I don't know the specifics, but I went with the 71-72 spindles before I realized the ball joints were $60+ each.

If I ever do this again, I will go with a 73+ front crossmember swap, because those parts are cheaper, and will probably be more readily available in the future. Not only that, but I had to use a hodge-podge of tie rod ends to get things working right with the drag link.

Thats what I was wanting to know. Cost? If going with 73 spindles will I have to change my 69' tie rod?
