Re: 1967 Pace Setter
Very nice truck.I have seen others or that same one before.I wonder if they had some trucks at Indy like that. The Camaro was the pace car.The truck isn`t trying to be a pace truck, but an official truck, like a support vehicle or just a promo from Chevy.I think I`ve seen a truck like that in old pics of the`67 Indy.

Re: 1967 Pace Setter
I don't remember ever seeing an Indy Pace Truck back in 67. Course theres lots of things I can't remember. Like said above the car was a camaro. I grew up less than two hours from Indy. Maybe they were used for advertising.

Re: 1967 Pace Setter
Cool piece of history. more than likely, these support vehicles were for hauling things around getting ready for the race, and used during the race to get safety members to the scene of an accident if/when one during the race. they still do the same thing as far as selecting a pace car, an official truck & an official "car" that is not a pace car, but for transporting people around, generally outside of the track.

Re: 1967 Pace Setter
OMG, what a beautiful pic!!!!! anyone want to make a guess at how much dough is sitting on the tarmac??
60 OFFICIAL pace Camaros? Average $50000 a piece, x 60 = 3million just in Camaros alone...... did I say that was a beautiful pic! :wiping the tears from eyes:

Re: 1967 Pace Setter
Yeah, four trucks all together. But in the one photograph,I can only see enough of the front of the truck in the background to gather it may be a duplicate of the whole truck shown. What I can see of the top of the other is enough to assume the same, looking back now.
