Mint condition BB SWB

Now that I have your attention I have a question for you. I know this has been asked before but I can't find it by doing a search. I need a new tailgate. I know of all the places to look to buy one but my question is who sells one that is decent quality? I won't be hauling cinder blocks but I would like one that doesn't bend when I sit on it. Finding a used one in decent shape isn't really an option, anything in a junkyard is raped and what you do find is pretty beat up since this is farm and ranch country. Here are some pics after I got my truck soda blasted. Thanks for your help.

Re: Mint condition BB SWB

I've got an original in really nice condition that I would sell.
NOW THAT I HAVE YOU ATTENTION, I WOULDN'T SHIP IT AS IT IS TOO MUCH OF A HASSLE AS I CAN GET MY PRICE AT ANY SWAP MEET.

I got mine from lmc and it fit great and seems to be very sturdy. No problems

Re: Mint condition BB SWB

Someone in the "parts for sale" section is selling 2 NOS tailgates for $750 a piece, don't know if he's willing to ship them or not.

Re: Mint condition BB SWB

Isn't an LMC tailgate like, $250? and it is the same quality as an original, it is just not original, perfect for what he needs

Re: Mint condition BB SWB

I wasn't sure if the aftermarket tailgate that LMC sells is the same gauge metal. Most aftermarket sheet metal is thinner, but I'm not sure about the repro tailgates.

Re: Mint condition BB SWB

The LMC gate won`t be the same quality as OEM,or any other repro for that matter. But,I don`t buy that a guy can sit on a repro and buckle one, either.

Re: Mint condition BB SWB

They say it improved thicker metal than before. I guess that these were issues before. I've ordered a tailgate and rocker from them and have had no issues yet. They lined up nice and seem to be good gauge metal. Price was also decent as well,

Re: Mint condition BB SWB

On a side note to the tailgate issue:

Soda Blasting Questions?

1. Did they come to you? (Mobil service)
2. Does it take off surface rust from body panels? Does it blast rust/rot like regular media blasting?
3. Approximate cost?

By the way aftermarket tailgates of any brand for any truck are ususally poor quality. I have one on my S-10 and it is already bent. I don't even abuse it.

I think soda blasting runs around $1200 to do a whole car and it blasts everything. They come to you because it's biodegradeable and won't hurt the environment.

LMC doesn`t make parts. They sell what others do.I`m not saying they`re not good, but still not as stout as original. Most won`t be worked as originals were, though.

Re: Mint condition BB SWB

Find an original if you use your truck at all. Everyone I know that has bought an aftermarket tailgate has bent it all up right away. They are just not great quality. Find a halfway decent used one and repair it. JMHO.
