I was riding in BurnoutNova's 67 a couple days ago and it started to do it. He may post, but he said it was the first time he has had it happen.

I would guess if you're getting wheel hop with trailing arms, your shocks are shot.

That ujoint looks rough. 3 out of 4 isn't bad is it? I have no wheel hop on my leaf sping truck. Maybe I am just lucky.

Yeah wheel hop is shocks. Shocks only purpose are to slow the reaction of the spring. A bouncing spring doesn't sound very slow to me. Oh and nice u-joint . Was it a front or a rear?

Oh and not trying to hijack the thread but I gotta ask . Why did you choose the av pic greasy68? I have a hockey buddy in Germany that has the same pic . He chose his because he looks like that in the pic . Just curious.

shocks are only about 1 year old so I don't think they are the problem, I was wondering if I might have worn out trailing arm bushings causing it to have axle wrap like in leave spring supension.....

Its possible, but I don't think it would have the same reaction like a leaf would. The wrap or twist of the axle actually changes the leaf spring. Just give the truck a really good shove. It should go down, up, then settle. Nothing more.

If the shocks are new, I would blame the bushings. I KNOW the bushings in the burb are waisted, and the only time I have tried hard to do it in the burb, I got some wheel hop.

yeah, I broke the rear u joint at the drag strip. I removed a leaf or two (can't remember) to lower it....which also increased axle wrap. So when I did a good enough burnout to get the tires to stick, it let loose.

well, it could be shocks, i agree., but, if the trailing arms are separating, they could be bowing apart, and causing the wheel hop, possibly.
let me explain why i say this. (i know it sounds kookie) i had a 68 gto, with 3 2 barrels, 40 and automatic, the car just wouldn't hook up right. i raise the lower shock mount on the right side to plant the tire a little more firmly. and then it would wheel hop like crazy. i thought, man i just cant win. so i put the shock mount back in the stock location. but the wheel hop still wont go away. then i notice that the upper links to the factory 4 bar setup are bowed. so, then i pulled them out, reshaped and boxed them with some plate so they can't bow. wheel hop is gone!!! then i moved the shock mount back up and the car launches right !!! SO thats why i am wondering could the trailing arms be seperating and bowing apart under load. if so you should be able to see where the trailing arms are taking on a bowed apart look where the two halves of the arm join. but then again, i could be way way off the mark here. it just another thing you might look at. good luck, tony
