overload helper springs
using the overload helper leafs on my bros 64 lwb rusted out rat rod. normally i dont like to hack things up but this thing was wacked in the back and the body is realy bad. but i wont get rid of it! check out the spring mounts bolted in front of the rear end using big wing nuts i found.they evan torqued to 175lbs using a socket that i cut. cut the frame right after the sway bar mounts due to it being bent. let me know what you think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: overload helper springs
heres better pics .this even rides nice to. no bed will be used so the tail lights off a rambler will be bolted to the floating rear end were the helper springs would touch. used the springs off a jeep that i had laying around. hardest thing was trying to drill a 1/2 hole in them for the center bolt. this gives me about 2.5 inches of travel, before it hits the new stops. yes the tires stick out past the frame in the rear. just trying to be differant!!!!

Re: overload helper springs
Actually, the auxillary overload springs, in your photo, are mounted in front of the axle and they are supposed to be mounted rear of the axle. The end rests on the landing tab that is bolted under the trailing arm, facing to the rear and the springs face forward, like shown in these photos.

Re: overload helper springs
It looks like he had to mount them from the front because he cut the frame off just behind the rear end.

Re: overload helper springs check this out!!!!
i did this on purpose, the rear frame was crumpled but i still wanted to use the helpers. instead of just as helpers there now the main springs. its fun just to look at there looks on faces when they try to figure this susp set up. the stock leafs were to rigid so i used others this way it sits level with 3" drop springs and 1.5 member drop.
