What kind of spindles?

Hi Community,

i have a 68 C10 Shortbox and i want to drop it. I contact earlyclassic to order a 4/6 drop kit, but i have a little problem. A previos owner modfied my truck with disc brakes, and nobody knows, what kind of spindles he uses.

They are no drop spindles and they look like original GM, but i dont know what year and model.
There are some numbers at the left spindle: LH 68868461, 12846 7880, 461GM6N

Maybe you can help a poor guy from little germany? :-)

Thanks Reiner....

Re: What kind of spindles?

If it has the original A-arms it dosen't matter what spindles they are just get new ball joints to fit the new spindles.

Re: What kind of spindles?

Some folks swap the entire crossmember. I don't have access to anything to run the parts numbers, so you should just run them by a GM dealer to cross-reference.

If you find out that it is a '71-72 (those parts numbers don't sound right for those years), then ECE drop spindles will work. Just give 'em a call to their tech line. Stan and the guys are a ton of info and will be very helpful. They may very well be able to tell you what you have and whether or not they can help you.

If you find that it is later, there are still mfr's out there (DJM, McGaughey's, etc) who have later model stuff.

Re: What kind of spindles?

Hi thanks for your answers,

i´m in contact with Stan, we´ve phoned yesterday. I think its the best way to change all ball joints and tierods to match for my 68 front end. And to this modification Stan delivers me a matching drop kit... :-)

Thanks Reiner
