Question Donor for disc brakes?

Hey i have a 71 c 10 and want to have disc brakes on the rear now my question is is there way to do this without buying a 4 or 500 dollar kit?? It has a 12 bolt rear end?

There are some other ways to do it but "WHY"? If it's going to be a show truck save the money to do it and make it look good.If it's a driver the rear of these trucks is so light there isn't much braking going on back there anyway.There should be a few posts on what others have done if you do a search.

Trucks didnt have discs from the factory until the late 90's --- a junkyard score is hard to do on the back

If you are building a hot rod though, the Lincoln Versailles had a 9" rear end with discs from the factory , and it is close to the right width -- that conversion would probably also bust $500 pretty easy though when you have the hubs machined for a 5 on 5 bolt pattern, but the 9" is a much more bombproof rear than the 12 bolt

PanelDeland is right. If your building a show truck, do it the right way and save up.
