PO Heater cable miss routing?

So how does this heater cable suppose to be routed? It's the one for the fan that goes to the bottom. Also what's the best way to lube all you cables? He had duck tape on the seam also and the bottom left vent hole covered up with duck tape, wonder why he covered the little square hole under neath on the right?

simply put that cable BEHIND the box and to the bottom lever from Behind the box. Lube cables with www.gibbsbrandlubricant.com

Re: PO Heater cable miss routing?

I had a problem with mine popping off of the lever and had to bend the cable eye end to keep it in position.

Re: PO Heater cable miss routing?

yea it is a little tough to get around over the top but that is where it belongs. I just got done putting mine in, but the glove box is out of the way and staying that way until i am darn sure everything works after I get the truck on the road.

There are push on clips that hold the cables on the control levers you can see them in this pic. The same clips hold the cables on the heater box levers.

Re: PO Heater cable miss routing?

LocDoc just read my mind... there are those clips to hold the cables on, all of mine are broken so i just bent the cables like PRG machine said. and the cable does go behind the air boxes.

Re: PO Heater cable miss routing?

Looks like with all the info I better get busy this weekend and get it behind the box so I can clean the box and get that duck tape sticky stuff off and paint it up. The slight seperation is more than likely why the PO taped it, maybe I could use black caulk on the seem before I paint.

Re: PO Heater cable miss routing?

I don't realy get why the thing was duct taped together. The whole design leaks everywhere anyway.........I would just clean it and paint it. There is a flapper door in there to direct the airflow up to the defroster and it isn't perfect, so some air gets bypassed to the floor area anyhow.. I usualy split the differences between defrost and floor after getting de-iced in the morning anyhow, so a little leak here and there is nothing to worry about.
