New VS Reman

New rods VS remanufactured rods - Is there much difference if you just have a mild street engine?

I would tend to think that 'New is new and thus better'. What makes me question myself is that I see cases all the time in my delivery job where an item (say a TV) is returned to the manufacturer due to some defective part. They send the customer a replacement, repair the defects in house, and then send the piece back to the store to be sold as a 'new' unit. Would the same logic apply in this case?

For a mild street application -- reman rods should be as good as new rods. Any of them (new or used) are subject to manufacturing tolerance variances -- and as long as the reman rods are magnafluxed, etc. -- they should be fine

A lot of budget circle track engines run reconditioned stock rods at pretty high RPM's with upgraded rod bolts.

Today, it's generally cheaper to buy a brand new set than have the old one resized with new bolts. I don't see many "reman" rods for sale any more, although some machine shops keep 'em around.

The new rods also generally have better metallurgy and design - and more consistent manufacture.
