need some wiring help!!!!!
Ok so i hooked up my battery and went to test my lights and they stay on until i disconnected the battery and the dome light is also on at all times does anyone have any ideas.thanks

Bad light switch probably. Or melted/hacked up wires.

brand new wiring harness and new light switch is there a difference in the gmc and chevrolet light switches?

switches? do you mean headlight switch or door pin switch. dome light of course has 12v from the brake pedal at all times. add a ground and the light comes on. grounds come from the door pin switch or the headlight switch. sounds like the ground wire is being grounded all the time. try tracing the wires to see for cut insulation.also check the headlight switch/pin switch if they're in the open position, turn the headlight switch, try new pin switches, disconnect 1 at a time. could be a bad headlight switch or dimmer for the headlights.

i have a multimeter and know how to read it i will check for ground though and go from there thanks guys

Check your door pins and make sure they aren't stuck. Mine stick sometimes. You don't have the interior light on do you? Turn the head light knob down to turn the over head off.
