Bed floor straightening?

I ahve a long bed and the floor is not to bad, but would like to straighten it up some before I paint/rhino it.

Any recommendations and or suggestions on how I might be able to do this, while still on the truck, would be appreciated.

Does anyone in AZ have a straight, longbed, floor they want part with?

Re: Bed floor straightening?

I'd be interested in tips on the bed as well. I plan to take mine off since i'll be putting in a new tank under there at the same time.

Re: Bed floor straightening?

It's pretty tough, especially without removing the bed. How about welding some tabs in the areas that need to be fixed and using one of those large 5 or 10lb slide hammers?

This is one reason I don't like steel bed floors in the older trucks, it is hard to find one that isn't beat to heck. Especially here in the Northeast. Most of them have more waves than the ocean.

Re: Bed floor straightening?

I used a big hammer on mine but the bed was apart. I then welded tabs to the big dents that were over the ribs and pulled on them with an over head crane and beat down on the bed at the same time. The floors are 16 gauge steel and are very difficult to unbend. Then alot of sanding with a home made block.

I'm going to put a piece of 4x4 underneath the bed with a piece of 2x4 against it and sitting on a jack and see if I can jack it up. Mine is just bowed a little toward the rear.
