Re: glove box paint scheme

Chevy trucks had the door the color of the dash with the exception of 67 and maybe 68, which they were a tecxtured black.
After that, they were all body color unless they got the woodgrain crap on supers in 71 and 72.

GMC trucks, the door macthes the inst panel, which could be black, red, blue, green, tan... I think that's it.
Personally, i like the door to match the inst panel, and that should be no color other than black.
Here's a GMC example... I'll see if I can dig up some more

Re: glove box paint scheme

Mike... no idea, it was a custom paint job on a 69 longhorn. I can't even remember the cat's name. I was in contact with him back in 04 or 05 maybe.
it was VERY droolable though.

So there's a visible seam on longhorns? does it say longhorn on the SPID?

Re: glove box paint scheme

all longhorns have that line, yes. If you look on the other side of the bed in this photo, you'll also see where the stake pocket is back 6 inches.
All longhorns had wooden floors
All longhorns were 20 or 30 series, and 2 wheel drive.
No mention of it on the spid, other than the model number and wheel base.

Re: glove box paint scheme

that's a tie down for the big ass camper that probably lived in that longhorn most it's life. The photos from before the repaint show a very nice solid floor which is a good indication that it wore a slide in camper.
The hose in the photo may well be plumbed into the engine's cooling system and then to a heater in the camper. That was not uncommon back then.

Thanks for the glove box ideas.

that brown paint color on the Longhorn looks an awful lot like a Corvette color from same years. I thought about painting a Jeep that color once.

Re: glove box paint scheme

I'm pretty sure this is a "stock look" for a '67. My truck was never a CST, but I don't care, I like the CHEVROLET emblem. It's not the "proper" silver or the "proper" texture (I used a bed coating stuff) but it looks nice

so the finish on the door is a textureed paint.

Also was that emblem on there or did you add it? i have seen those in catalogs for our trucks but wasn't sure where they mounted and what they would look like. I like the looks of your door!!!

Re: glove box paint scheme

Thanks man!

I like it too! I think the emblem was used on 67/68 CST's.

Yeah, the inside was originally textured on 67's (and as Andy said, some 68's.) The emblem just mounts by drilling 3 holes. Mine were snug enough so that it just kinda "sits there." If it ever pops off I'll add some glue or something.

You can kinda see the texture on mine in the pics below, shows up much better "in person."

It's a 16" floor shift (mounts to the floor, not the tranny.) I think I paid about $120 shipped for a USED one! It was like new when I got it. (Right place at the right time.) A new one is about $180!!!! the last time I checked. It shifts SUPER SUPER nice too. Every gear engages properly, never had any problems with it. Great product.
