56 Chevy?
Hey guys,
I'd like an idea what this truck is worth. Its the truck in my avatar. It has a pretty solid cab and hood. Front fenders have Bondo over the eyebrows. The bed sides have been shortened and the rear fenders are toast. No motor, no interior. Its on a 71-72 1/2 ton chassis with coil rear and front disc brakes. The chassis was altered by the previous owner and the work is amateur at best. Any ideas? Thanks, Denny |

DENNY!! Hows it goin bud
In our market , a truck like that would run anywhere from $1000 - $2000. I bought our 58 short fleet with cancerous front fenders, the rest of the body is solid, has a NOva front clip and powertain in it, and I drove it home for $900. Now that was 4 years ago, so the market has gone up a bit. I guess it all depends on if you have something a buyer is looking for |

Hello Denny. Please provide more details. Big window cab? Rot in the doors? Modified sheetmetal (cab)? Dash stripped of components? Etc.
Location is going significant factor in determining a price, too. I purchased a fairly solid, big-window, standard-cab '58 short fleet on a '73 chassis about three years ago for under $1K. The truck didn't have a motor, tranny, or wiring, but the chassis and sheetmetal modifications were well done -- the rear axle was moved to line-up with the stock wheelbase. The cab interior was complete, and the trim was all present (although not all attached). There was some skim filler in the truck in a couple of places -- mostly in the cab.

Re: 56 Chevy?
The cab and doors are pretty solid. If you look inside at the cab corners you can see where new corners were welded in and it looks to be very nice work. the weld could be ground down and and it would disappear.
I did notice where the rocker below the door and fender meet there is no seam. it has been filled smooth. I'm not sure whats going on there. I have slightly pitted gauge bezel ann inst. for the dash. working condition is unknown. All other dash components are there. Wireing is toast. it has been hacked. Orig steering column and seat is gone. The brake pedal has been changed with a power brake booster. The pedal has been cut and welded. It has a 70's caddy tilt tele. column temp. hooked up (loosely). Also have a nice drivers hood emblem. all other emblems have been removed. It's pretty solid for the east coast. Its a small window cab and the glass should be replaced. one wing window top mount is broke. |

Re: 56 Chevy?
Oh, if anyone is going to JC's on the third and would like to see it, I'm not far away.
I also have a painless wireing harness for it. I have nearly $3000 in it. I would like $2000 out of it. Sound fair? Last edited by DennyB; 04-22-2008 at 10:15 PM. |
