speaking of 62's here's mine

Finally got my truck complete enough to drive around. It only took two years. There were some days that it was not worth it but in the end, it is so worth the wait.
Here it is when I bought it. It is replacing the 61 long bed I wrecked

A month later this happened while it was sitting in front of the house

SO lets start putting it back together. Got most of a bed from a guy online. Went to PnP and bought the rear axle housing and shafts and tailgate from the 61 I wrecked Had the trailing arms and springs sitting around from a 62 long bed I cut up

Did some rust repair. Rockers, Inner rockers, cab supports, the bottoms of all pillars, bottoms of the doors, floor pans

Got some disk brakes, drop spindles, and 4" rear springs

Re: speaking of 62's here's mine

And some bucket seats, center console, belts, painless harness, carpet etc

Needs an engine. 283 gone. Insert .060" 350, AFR heads, .490" lift Lunati cam, cromo roller rockers 600cfm double pumper w/choke removed and shaved, aluminum blah blah blah

Get the interior put together

And some gauges

And it runs

How about a bed on the cheap

And it runs and drives

And thats it, Bumpers are on the way. Needs a little work on the driver door. And to figure out what I want to do with the paint. I still have to get the driveshaft retubed and rebuilt.

I think in the two hundred miles I have driven it so far, I have burned 30 gallons on 91 octane. Guess I shouldn't use the throttle pedal like its an on/off switch. It WILL shoot a brake stand all the way to the top of third though.
The wait was so worth it

Re: speaking of 62's here's mine

Awsome truck. Can you get me a cloe up of your frame horns? Mine are destroyed by a PO and i thought they were shaped a different way than your look. i might actually be able to repair them if they are how they look in your pics. thanks.
