stupid question#1 from me
Ok guys,,,a stupid question for a stupid thing I did,,,,
I lost the plunger that goes between the master cylinder and the hydraulic booster,(durn kids). So far all the junk yards have not a one,,,98 1 ton 4 wheel drive chevy. Apparently the 3/4 ton and the 1 ton are different. Is there a site where I can get a picture of it and turn 1 down? (I run a machine shop)Or find another one? Thanks!!! "Coffee" |

Re: stupid question#1 from me
damn, i was gonna say I had one till you said '98. Have you tried the dealer? they MIGHT be able to get the piece if it has it's own part number.

before I pay 500 for one,I'll let the truck sit and collect dust until I find one. Thanks!!! "Coffee" |

Re: stupid question#1 from me
Are you calling JY's or visiting them? 'cause I'm betting a visit would answer your question within 2 minutes of walking around

Re: stupid question#1 from me
I find that pretty hard to believe. A quick (2 minutes) check on gmpartsdirect shows the entire hydraulic booster assy is only $5xx, and a booster overhaul kit is less than $200. You might need to clarify for us just what you're looking for. If it's a little part like a plunger rod, it's not believable that it's going to cost $500.

Re: stupid question#1 from me
No,the plunger thingy is what I need,,,but the dealer won't just sell one of those.they want me to get the whole master cylinder. So far,the kits I have seen don't come with the plunger.
Also, the booster they showed me that is "supposed" to go in my truck,,,doesn't look anything like the one I pulled out..bout the only thing I can think of is,I turned in the plunger when I took the old booster to oreilly's. I really can't even blame the kiddoes. I probably need to do the junkyard circuit again.it has been 2 weeks, who knows? sorry wasn't tryin to mislead anyone. I havn't been to Fort Worth j/y's yet,,,I may try to find some of those this weekend. |

Re: stupid question#1 from me
That makes more sense... at least from a price perspective. Too bad. It sounds like they may be trying to get greedy. I don't have a real parts book available, but based on an exploded view diagram I was looking at, it appears to have its own part number (no pn#'s listed online... they want you to buy from them).

Re: stupid question#1 from me
before you go too crazy, get a booster & MC fron a 3/4 ton at the salvage yard, can't cost more than $50++. i would try the rod from the 3/4 ton first
