How do you register a truck you've pieced together? CALIFORNIA

Does anyone know what you need to register a truck you've pieced together?

Does the Cab have to have a title or the frame?? Where's the VIN??

I tried finding this in the search but didnt find anything on CA specificly....thanks for any help provided!

When I did mine they only checked the tag on the cab for the Vin. If you have a title that was previously registered in Ca. they won't check anything. If you take it to the CHP they will check the numbers on the frame and the cab. Sometimes its better to buy a parts truck with a title and use the cab.

The Vin plate should be on the cab, just below the driver side door catch.

On the frame, the number will be stamped near the steering gearbox under the hood.

As for getting it registered, shoot me a pm and give me your number and we can talk on the phone. I have done this with several vehicles (nothing illegal) just mostly filing the correct paperwork at DMV. Really nothing to worry about, just take time and some money....

As a side note I wouldn't put any money or time into a vehicle I didn't have a title for.
