GM Performance air intake

Anyone running the GM Performance parts cold air intake? If so, how do you like it. I am thinking of adding one to my 06. Noticable gains with it or other CAI ? I have had a few drop in K&N filters in different vehicles, but never a full CAI.

Advice opinions ?

Re: GM Performance air intake

I guess since no one has chimed in, no one is using this intake. I purchased one off ebay that was used for a very short time before the truck was traded for a 08. Once I get it installed and try it out, I will post some pics and comments.

Stay tuned.

Re: GM Performance air intake

Got the intake yesterday, got it installed today. It was a little scratched up, but I got it used for about a third of the price. I may have the lid and tube chromed or powdercoated one of these days. I feel it has much better throttle response now, plus it looks much better than the factory plastic stuff.

I am going to let my buddy drive it and give me his honest opinion. He has the same truck with a drop in K&N and stock exhaust. I have the CAI and a flowmaster 40 series.

I will post his thoughts. If nothing else it had to help flow compared to the stock tube, and I like the new look.

I will get some clearer pics later, camera settings were off.

Re: GM Performance air intake

Does it have a "hissing" type sound when you are accelerating? My K+N does and I hate it. I would like to see more pics if you get the chance. Thanks.

Re: GM Performance air intake

I will try to post more pics tomorrow. Hopefully they will be clearer also. One note, I had to add a little piece of foam to the hood because it just barely contacts the air box lid at the lower left corner. I haven't tried adjusting my hood bumpers yet though.

I have only driven a short distance since installing it, but I did not notice any hissing sounds. You hear a slighty more pronounced "sucking" when reving at idle. I do have a 40 series flowmaster with a turn down at the rear axle, so the exhaust rumble is what you mainly hear anyway.

Re: GM Performance air intake

Still enjoying the intake. Haven't had time to let my buddy drive it while I drive his to compare.

Here are some clearer pics.

Re: GM Performance air intake

We have a K&N on our 02 burban and we rle like it, it sounds a lot better w/ the stock exhaust, and has more power and better mileage, and no hissing, maybe your filter or a connection is loose ratrod67, check that and maybe clean the filter. Sorry to hijack, but has anyone else had the problem on the coolant line that runs on the side of the box, the grommet not staying in? It is digging into the line and will eventually split it, i think it is for the overflow tank, may wrap it in duck tape to prevent splitting. Intake looks nice, BP68!

Re: GM Performance air intake

I got it used on ebay. It has a some scratches and little blemishes here and there, but I got it for about 1/3 of new. It was only in use 6 months and the filter looked almost new. One day I will prob have the lid and tube chrome plated, or maybe powder coated. All other components just needed a little cleaning.

How about a pic of you problem area? I would have to see it, but a little plastic wire conduit over that coolant hose you mentioned might work nicely.

Re: GM Performance air intake

It is too dark for pics, maybe this week will get around to it. Conduit will prolly work, or good ole duct tape.
