Ive found a original grille for my 70 gmc, I thought it was mint but when I started putting new chrome around it, I found out that it either needs a good polishing or rechroming. Any tips on how to polish it?

hope you have alot of time. they are anodized. i did one and had to sand the anodizing off and start from scrach sanding with progresively finner grits up to 1500 or 2000 then start pollishing. looks great but sure was alot of work. still never mounteduiton my truck. it just hangs on the wall in the shop.

He`s got a GMC grille,it`s chrome.The chrome gets thin and dull on these.Not much to do but shine it up and wax it the best you can.They get kinda brownish looking.

yep, the GMC grilles were chrome. you may try some Eagle wadding. If the chrome's worn off, not much you can do...... and I imagine a dip in the chrome tank would be as much as a new grille altogether.

one good thing about Chevrolet grilles I guess.

never dull seems to work well. my dad used to use it on his semi when he drove truck over the road.

in fact, he gave me a can from when he did drive. it must have been 15 years old at least... still worked well, but i grabbed a new can and it worked even better.

I had real good results from Flitz, a German paste polish. I worked it in with a sheet of green Scotchbrite and reversed some rusty spots on my '71 Jimmy's grille.

Here's an idea. Paint the outer parts of the grill to look like the 71/72 ones. The black parts will separate from the new chrome fender pieces & might blend in better. If your chrome is worn, all the polish in the world isn't going to make it brighter. jmo
