4x4 400 turbo support rods

Hi, I've got a 78 burb 4x4 with a 400 turbo. Went to install the support rods running from the transmission lower cover to the engine mounts on the frame. One fits perfect but the other is off about a inch to long. Does anyone know if the length is the same on both or is one shorter than the other. The ones I got from the junkyard were the same length. There were about four of them in a pile and I just grabbed two and didn't check the length. DAH! Thanks, Tom

Re: 4x4 400 turbo support rods

Out of all the trucks I've pulled apart I only had that set up once and built the truck and sold it. I've always wished I had kept the supports and inspection cover, because I still have yet to come across them again. Sorry I was of no help. Gabby tonight

Most of the time they are taken off during some major "service" (engine or transmission rebuild) and they never make it back on. I have seen them removed for starter swaps and left off then too.

Many thanks! It's off to the junkyard for the right one.

Re: 4x4 400 turbo support rods

Tom-
I just happen to have the motor pulled out of my 79" K20 so I went to the shop and measured the struts. I have a NP203 TH400 with 400 small block.
One measures 15" center to center with a 90 degree twist,
and the other 15-3/8" center to center with about a 45 degree twist.
Hope this helps
Ron

Ron,
Many thanks for the measurements. Yeap, I've got 2 long ones. Heading back the the junk yard this weekend to get the other. Thanks again, Tom
