help.. 92 blazer, trans questions..
Hello all.. My dad just got a chev blazer 92. He's having trouble with the transmission. Basically it takes too long to shift from 1st to 2nd gear. Also to get it to shift i have to be at about 75% throttle, and be above 25 mph. Also if the truck is moving lets say at about 25-35mph, and i give it gas it will hunt for a gear and rev.
I tried messing with the tv cable, but no dice. Is the trans bad? Also would a 700r4 trans from a v8 chevy van (86) fit this blazer? Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Re: help.. 92 blazer, trans questions..
I assume you know the procedure to setting the TV cable.
http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/drivetrain/tvcable.htm The cable should be slightly pulled out at idle too. V8 700R4's are identical and bolt up. You need to find the right tail length and similiar year due to speedo gears or signal generator. 700R4's and 4L60's have a poor life span in stock form. Check the tranny. Does it have gears or a signal genator. 92 models should have mostly 4L60 trannys. Last edited by gchemist; 04-16-2008 at 03:09 AM. |

Re: help.. 92 blazer, trans questions..
4L60 is the same as a 700R4. a 4L60E is electric controled and has a bunch of wires going through the side of the case and has no TV cable.
either way it sounds to me like your tranny is toast. |

Re: help.. 92 blazer, trans questions..
thanks for the input. my dad and I, just swapped out the trans. Everything went pretty smooth, with the exception of a couple things. the older 700r4 had some "ears" on both sides of bell housing that needed to be removed. Also it had it needed a different tq converter cover.
One quick question, does anyone know how to get the speed sensor gear out of the rear tail shaft? The trans we uses a speed cable, but my dad's blazer needs a speed sensor.
