72 swb frame

I have a 72 swb frame I've been saving for a future project, but it's just in the way all the time. Comes with what you see including ps gearbox. $275.00, bring your own rollers.

Just curious if you have tag and title. And was it a v-8 truck.
Thanks

Re: 72 swb frame

Does it have any damage? What would you charge for the rollers? Any ideas of the rear gears?

Re: 72 swb frame

I don't know any of that stuff and I don't have a title. I do know it's not a perfect frame, it has some "towing/loading" type bends in the rear crossmember and at least one of the shock mounts has been welded. No rust or scaling that I see. BUT, it is priced cheap, even for the condition. I'll have to check the tire condition before I can price the rollers. Thanks.

I can't either. The front crossmember and suspension is worth more! How about $250 w/ the rollers!!

Re: 72 swb frame

All I can tell you about the rear end is that it is a 1972 model 12 bolt with a non-posi. The pinion turns 1.5 time for every 1 rotation of the axle. So ???? Sorry that's the best I can do without pulling the cover.

Re: 72 swb frame

David,
Can you do me a favor when (you get time) and turn the axle 10 times and count the number of turns on the pinion? I know it seems like I could just multiply out 1.5, but that rear ratio would be 1.5, and they didn't make that, so it has to be a little more turning going on. Thanks
SHawn

Re: 72 swb frame

I agree that is a strange ratio. But, I turned the axle 10 times and the pinion turned 15.375 times. I turned the pinion 10 times and the axle turned 6.5 times. Either way I'm getting 1.54. Something must be wrong. Any ideas (besides pulling the cover)?

Shaun, buy it, the rear is worth half the asking price and I could buy what's left!?

Seriously, LMK

Re: 72 swb frame

hart, thanks for clearing that up!
David,
I was able to get my broken bolt out , plus I don't know that I can give up my 3.73 gears. Thanks for getting me the info though. Hang on to it I'm sure somebody needs it. It would be a shame to let it go to scrap.
