True that. It is after all, just a vent to relieve crankcase pressure, is it not.

Re: 350 guys PVC

What about not running a pcv and just having a breather on each side?
What's the downside?

Re: 350 guys PVC

A PVC valve vents the block into the carburetor and out the exhaust. A breather vents the block into the engine compartment. You choose.

Click this link for a better understanding of what the Positive Crankcase Ventilation system is and what it is used for.
Hope this helps you!

Re: 350 guys PVC

The key word is positive. A breather is a passive vent.

Re: 350 guys PVC

A good comparison of breathers verses PCV system;
Lest say you have a room filled with smoke, toxic gasses, acid in the air, and oil droplets. On one wall, there is a window, and on the oposite wall, another window.
Open the windows to clear the air in the room.
That's the breather set up.
Place a window fan that spins an insiane RPM and is able suck the room clean in a matter of moments, with fresh air coming in the other window supplying fresh air.
That's the PCV set up.

Describing it like this would make anyone understand... even my mom, and it would take her 20 min to figure out where to put the oil.

Re: 350 guys PVC

Breathers look cool, but they get oil all over your nice shiny valve covers. If you don't clean it all the time, it runs down to your ex. manifold and makes a stinky, and the ladies don't like the stinky.

You almost described positive pressure ventilation in a house or structure fire. Reverse the fan to pushing the smoke (introducing fresh air) and the other window leeting the smoke out and you would have what we use in a structure fire. But for purposes of your explanation I will give you a little artistic flexibility.
