Need help with rear sway bar
Does anyone know for sure the correct way of installing one of these. It is from CCP. As far as I can tell the bushing shaft should be straight but what is the best method of getting it that way. I already had to shave the bushings down just to get the dang bolt on it to begin with and as you can see it is just barely on there. The bar bushings are not mounted to the trailing arms just yet, need to get in the right position first. Any advise?

Re: Need help with rear sway bar
It should be straight up and down, you will have to drill your own holes

Re: Need help with rear sway bar
Should I push the bar back or should I raise the rear to get it straight? Also won't it put alot of strain at the mounting for the long bushing bolt? That thing doesn't look very beefy.

Re: Need help with rear sway bar
No, the shocks will stay the same, stock, the rear is only getting dropped 3'' with new springs.

Re: Need help with rear sway bar
I ran into this same problem with mine. It needs to be straight, but if you lower the front of the bar enough, it looks goofy hanging that far below the trailing arms. Plus, then you need to keep moving it forward to the front of the truck to mount the bracket ahead of the kick up in the frame. I compromised and mounted mine like this-
I figure it still will be better than no bar, and I can definitely tell a difference.

Re: Need help with rear sway bar
I am thinking I should just change the position of the bracket on the frame?

That's what I would do.

Re: Need help with rear sway bar
What about mounting it on top of the trailing arms, or would that interfere with the drive shaft?
edit**** Never mind, I see that it will. However once you put the suspension back on the ground with the bed weight won't it level the bar out some? Personally O would wait and put it on when I had the truck back together with the weight of the vehicle. THat is what I did on our Bel Air. JMHO. Shawn

Re: Need help with rear sway bar
Do you mean "CPP"? I put the front and rear kit on my '72. Will get some photos . You need to have the weight on the truck when installing the rear. They should have come with instuctions. They sure do make the truck much more stable.

Re: Need help with rear sway bar
Look here:http://www.classicperform.com/Instru...PDF/CP7401.pdf
Says drill a hole 20" from oval along frame rail and 2" up from edge. Lowered trucks may need to be modified according to directions.

Re: Need help with rear sway bar
6072TTA 60-72 Trailing Arms Only Pair I'm using cpp's tube style arms, no provisions for swaybar, I know with minor fabrication this will work, but has anyone done this yet? Don't want to reinvent the wheel if someone already has!
