Need some help with a cardboard gas tank cover

HELP! I have my seats and console out and I want to add the cardboard gas tank cover, I didn't have one to start with so I can't look at the old one. How is it supposed to go around the vent hoses on the passenger side of the tank, does it need to be cut? I thought there was only one cover for all 6 years, could there be a different one for 71-72?
Also do the tabs along the top get folder over around the back side of the tank and what holds the bottem in place?
Do you use adhesive to hold the whole thing in place?

Jeff the tabs slide over the top of the tank and should hold the cover in place. They did not get adhesive originally. As fr as the vent hoses does your truck have the EEC tank or the regular tank- sounds like the EEC tank which means you may have to trim the top a little to get the fit right. Why are you putting a cardboard cover on your truck doesn't it have bucket seats? You should have the carpeted cover. I am going to email you later on this week about doing a new SPID for the 4x4 we did earlier, there is going to be a change in color among oter things. Harold

Thanks for the reply and always good info Harold. I was under the assumption that even with buckets there was a cardboard tank cover, is that incorrect? I know the 67 that Randy had was completely original and had the cover with the carpet over the top. Yea, I have a couple of lines that run into the passenger rear cab corner from the top of the tank and completely get in the way of the cardboard cover.

My upholstery guy made a cardboard cover with the same material as the door panels.

Buckets & console use a carpeted tank cover. It looks better & quieter. We even put them in bench seat trucks because they are so much nicer.
