Power to manual windows

I bought my other "dream truck" a short bed, 350, 5 speed, 1990 Silverado. The only reasons I bought a Silverado is because I could afford this particular truck, it was a 5 speed and most important of all, it is a V-8 with a MANUAL trans.

I do not want the power windows and the drivers window wont roll down, the motor is shot. So how hard would it be to convert to manual windows. Are the mounting holes there already? I know I have to change door panels which I want to do anyway. I'm also planning on ditching the carpet for a rubber mat.

I would appreciate any advice before I tear out my door panels.

Re: Power to manual windows

Is this just going to be a work truck? It is just the mechanism and the door panel, not TOO hard

Re: Power to manual windows

The metal inner door panels (under the plastic inside door panels) are a one piece deal with the regulators mounted to them with rivets. Just go to the junkyard and get the inner panels from a manual window truck. They bolt right in place and the window rollers go into the same grooves on the glass. You'll either need new interior panels, or bore a hole in the ones you have for the window crank.

Immediate plans- get it running!
Future plans-
Rear disc swap & Hydroboost
Dually conversion with shackle flip-n-switch
4x4 conversion with 52" springs
Maybe some new body panels
Who needs a car when they make crew cab trucks?

Re: Power to manual windows

Thanks guys. I did not think it would be too hard, but the way my luck is running with this truck I wanted to make sure.

I guess I am converting to a Work Truck interior. It will have the Silverado trim but manual windows, and rubber mats. The power door locks work ok so they are staying.

Re: Power to manual windows

if you haven't drilled anything yet (which you probably have), you might find someone on here (like me) who is willing to possibly trade you parts. Take some pics and show us what you have. I have a 91 cheyenne with maual doors. I would be willing to take out the regulators, door panels, and all related hardware etc if we trade and you send me yours. I guess it would be best to trade with someone with the same color though.
