brakes
Howdy everyone.
I own a 1968 C10, it's a 350/350 truck with Power assisted Drum Brakes all around. I'm getting ready to do a brake job and need to know what size brakes I have. I was on the trusty LMC site and it says I'll either have 11" or 11 5/32". Short of taking a wheel off and getting the old tape out, is there anyway to know? Mine is a 1/2 ton, so does that make any difference? Any help will be greatly apperciated.

Not for sure but you could probally measure the outside of the depth of the drum as they had two size drums also. Cross reference the drum back to determine the size brake shoe.

I think most were the smaller shoe. The larger one must have been heavy duty an option on the glove box SPID maybe??

Thanks Sammy. Guess I'll just have to take a wheel off then. Would rather not till I have to do the job itself, but what the hell.

you aren't buying your brake parts from LMC are you?
I'm 99% positive the smaller one is the norm with the exception of the suburbans and panels. |

i'd say take the drum off to measure them and while you're in there look and see if any of those 40year old parts need replacement and also check to see if the drums are good and can still be used//all parts should be readily available at your local parts store
