I posted that one in the classifieds for people but I probably should have put it here. It`s a pretty good deal and I would be all over it except I have to sell my project now. I hope he didn`t crush it. someone go save that thing.

It is incredible the amount of stuff that we are losing to the current high steel prices.
I see trailers loaded with scrap steel go by every day.
Last night on the way home (4:00 am) I saw a trailer loaded down with riding lawn mowers washers /dryers, and a entire 1967 chev truck front clip, grille hood headlight rings - every thing..
I have been looking for a good 62^ gmc hood, my friend called , and said there was a 1 ton out at the crusher yard, by the time I got there they had stacked a car next to it , and smashed a rust free fender and the hood- I probably would have given them the scrap price for the fender, hood, radio, guages, and they still could have gotten good scrap money for what was left.
It is sad we are losing all this stuff, this $250 calif truck looks better than anything I have seen around here for twice that money.

These high steel prices are taking their toll on everyone. It is hurting my 'pops' Garage Door business.

I too am one of those guys with the overly loaded trailer, headed to the recycler...although, I am recycling old garage doors, not good truck sheet-metal.

This extra money, help balance out these f#ck'n insane gas prices !!!

Here's one of my loads:

-

-

-
-
This 9000 lb load (on a 5000 cap. trailer) brought me $844.00 at SIMS metal in San Jose.

Definately a ghetto, non-CHP friendly load, that for sure !!
-
But the extra money helps for that extra bill, or grocerys, or fuel for the summer toys.....although I too have seen some nice cars and trucks being recycled. I see worse on the road !!

It's sad times we live in. Thank God I haven't had to watch any good classic vehicles go to the crusher yet.

jon, the trailer you saw is on river around the corner from my house as I type this.
saw the front end too. it's still there. I'm going to see if it's still there after work. the guy @ that house has a cool dragster back in the shop behind the house. looks like a 55 or 57 chevy doorslammer.

The rising prices of alloys is gettin thieves worked up, too!

I have just started remodeling my house on the bayou.

I noticed that the lights wouldnt come on, so I went downstairs to check the breakers. Some worthless piece of crap cut all the copper wire out of my house! They didnt take any of the steel plate I had, tho.

Re: Another one might get crushed or already is...any takers?

yeah some a$$es stole our a/c unit at work for the copper. There are laws in place to stop them from selling stolen copper, but if they were law abiding, they wouldn't have stolen copper in the first place. the laws just cover the behinds of the recyclers, does nothing for the victims of the thieves.
