Question 66 Coil springs re.and re.

PO heated all the coil springs on this 66 burb to lower it. I want to change them all so it's driveable. I'm starting on the front, so here are some questions: Do I have to take it down to bare spindle or can I just drop the bottom BJ ? I have the truck blocked up so there is about a foot clearance from tire to ground, is this enough clearance ? I'll need some advice/info when it comes to the back. Any/all info appreciated. Thanks

Re: 66 Coil springs re.and re.

With a floor jack under the LCA, pop the bottom ball joint loose from the spindle. Then, slowly lower the jack until you can remove the spring (the heated spring may not be under tension, but it's nice to pretend it does--- safety first). Pop the new spring in, spin it until it seats in the LCA "notch" for the end of the spring, then use the jack to push the LCA back up. Reattach the ball joint to the spindle and do the other side of the truck. Voila.
