Relocating Rear Shocks - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Does anyone know if I need to use a shock relocation kit on the rear end of a 69 if the rear end is only lowered 4"? I have been trying to do some research to find out and I'm still not sure. When I look at the LMC catalog they say that I only need rear drop shocks when It's lowered 4" with coil springs. The front will be lowered with just 2 1/2" drop spindles and the rear with 4" coils and just shocks, but do I need to relocate them do decrease the angle to 15 degrees or less. I think I have confused myself now........sorry.

the closer the shocks are to vertical the more effective they work/i relocated my dropped shocks on a 4" drop and the truck rode alot better

you know you should also get the adjustable panhard bar on that 4"drop so you can center the rear axel

cdowns is correct. Mine is lowered 4" with no relocators and it's ok but would probably be better with them. I think some have flipped the existing brackets and got the same effect as the kit.

The brackets will also have to be swapped from one side to the other when the're flipped. This is going to leave a gap between the shock bracket and the trailing arm. You can fill the gap with washers or build a shim.
