A/C Bracket Question
Ok IM sure this is an easy question. I have the ac system off a 454 76 chevy truck. I want to put it on my 76 GMC 350 truck, I am swapping cabs.
What new AC brackets do I need. I have the complete set for the 454 (still bolted on the 454) Are the ones March and Summit worth it? I just want stock brackets. Thanks for everyones help. Tony |

Re: A/C Bracket Question
It depends on your budget whether they're worth it.
I am finishing up a 350 - 454 conversion on my '87 now. The 454 came from a '76 3/4 ton lwb. I still have the original bracketry from the 454, but when you install headers, that changes everything on the driver side of the engine with regards to A/C and PS mounting. To fix this, I used the ULTRA Serpentine system from March with he Alternator / AC bracket in one. You can see it below. I don't have the A/C compressor they recommend yet but will soon. All three pieces (PS, ALT, A/C) are available from March too, either chromed or billet. Kenny

Re: A/C Bracket Question
so since my engine (350) has headers u think I will have proiblems mounting the ac from the 454 (exhaust maifolds). I have all the 454 brackets but dont I need different ones for the 350??

Re: A/C Bracket Question
possibly, look at the picture below. It's off the '76 3/4 ton that I pulled the 454 from. Look just above spark plugs 1 and 3. Theres a bracket on the head that is critical to the mounting of the AC. If your 350 head has the holes for that bracket, you may be ok.
Seems to me that the bolt pattern on the front and rear of the heads are not the same as a small block too. Once you mock it up, you'll know for sure if the brackets will line up. My thought is they won't. Ofcourse, the March system relocates the AC to the passenger side bottom and requires a different compressor.

Re: A/C Bracket Question
Ok thanks.
I will look later. I think I may go to a junk yard and find a truck with ac and a 350 and scavenge what I need |

Re: A/C Bracket Question
since we are on the subject, What kind of a A/C bracket would I need when I put headers on my engine. I am also running all original brackets.
