How to tell if top is single or double wall?

I just picked up a 72 Blazer that I may be parting out. Can anyone tell me how to ID the top as either a single wall or double wall?

Thanks.

Scott

The single wall top like mine the bolts go down through the bedsides into the nuts that are mounted on the bottom side of the bedside..... Double wall tops- the bolts go up through the bedsides into the nuts that are mounted on the the top.

If it has dome lights its a single wall. Also, if its a single wall, there are lips in the top (along the portion that rests on the bed rails of the tub) that have holes for bolts to go down through to bolt into blind nuts in the bed rails. The double wall tops have blind nuts in the bottom (again, the portion that rest on the bed rails) where the bolt go up through holes in the bed rail and into the top. Whew... hope you can visualize that
... just look for the lights.

Thanks guys, will check it out tonight when I get home.

BTW a single wall top is worth more than a double, correct?

They are, you just have to find someone who wants one that is close. I've seen people not able to give away a double wall, and then single wall tops sell for $400. I sold my double wall at a swap almost right away for $225 with no hatch. I think you just need to find the right person. But normally the single wall is more desirable.

Re: How to tell if top is single or double wall?

I have been trying to sell a SWT for several month now. (IIRC Huck in KY
has been trying also) It's all about location, location, location. Like others
have said, the main things are dome lights and the way that it bolts on.

I bought mine from Midstate_67-72, he had it on ebay. I was planning a long trip to get it, but he had a sister that lived an hour away from me so he brought it to me for the price of gas. It worked out really good, I guess I was just lucky he was so helpfull.

Just my opinion, but my 70 has a double wall, and I think it looks better than most single walls I've seen. Don't really care about the dome light either.

The top in your pictures is a single wall.

I guess I am a little slow. I see that you know that now!
