Drove the '62 to Wal-Mart and....
...some guy came up to me to says "nice truck"... Then he tells me he has one in his yard that he's looking to get rid of. He told me it was a '63, with no title, and plenty of extra parts, $250. Sounded like a decent deal so I got his number and called him up to go look at it. After work yesterday we went to check it out...the truck and his parts...It turned out to be a 64-66...one fender had a 64 emblem and a 66 on the other, shortbed fleetside, no engine or tranny, rust in the common places, okay looking truck, BUT it's the parts that got me excited. He had brand new rockers, inner and outer, both sides, floor patches, fender patches, and everything you need to convert the truck to 5 lug with front discs. I guess he bought a wrecked 66 that had been converted and robbed all parts off of it... control arms, rotors, calipers, brake master and booster, and a rearend that "may" be posi that seemed to be new or just recently gone through... plus another box of goodies that he's throwing in. The plans are to just use the parts we need on my girl's 65, get this truck running with an extra 250 that I have, and sell the truck as a project... I have a title for it already. So the morale of the story is, "When you drive your old truck, the deals come to you...."

Here's a new one!
You might be a redneck if you bought your pickup in the parking lot at Wal-Mart!

Nice score Joe. One of these days we're gonna have to have an all New Mexico meet somewhere... maybe fall time frame. I'd love to meet you and your lady, and of course take a look at those trucks.

That's a great idea, James. We'll have to figure something out...
As far as pics of the truck. I snapped a few on Friday, but I don't have the camera. I'll post them as soon as I can...

Re: Drove the '62 to Wal-Mart and....
I tried to get some pics of the parts in the back. They're not that great but back there is everything you need to convert it to 5-lug, front disks including the rearend and power brake master/booster, control arms, spindles, rotors calipers...todo!

Re: Drove the '62 to Wal-Mart and....
Here's some extra stuff that was thrown into the deal.. Brand new rockers, floor pans and a box of miscellaneous stuff that made me a little cash at an Classic Auto swap meet that was in Albuquerque this past Sunday...
Also, the truck has an 80's style seat in it that I'll be using in my '73....

Re: Drove the '62 to Wal-Mart and....
dude, by the time you are finished selling stuff you don't need, it will be like some one paid you, just to give you some primo parts you can't beat that!
not a bad looking truck, will definitely make some one a good project

Re: Drove the '62 to Wal-Mart and....
I have just burned $4200.00 worth of gas cruising my local Wall-Mart lot for seven days non-stop... but, alas, no free truck has been offered!

Went and picked up the beast on Friday morning. Took it to a buddy's house. Now the plans are to get it running and put her on the market...
