Door stops

I searched and couldn't find much on doors stops. The one on my drivers door is broken. I did find threads on replacing the friction pads.
I checked Classic Hearbeat and GMC Pauls for replacement stops, but nothing. Any idea who sells them?

Re: Door stops

What part are you refering to as "stop"? The rubber bumpers that the door closes against or the spring loaded mechanism that keeps it from opening too far? This is generally called "Wind check".

Re: Door stops

X2 - that thing is in the hinge - I've got a crease on my fender from P.O. not replacing it soon enough.

Re: Door stops

It would be the spring loaded mech that keeps it from opening too foar. The windcheck. Runs from the hinge thru the friction plates and into the door.
I have 2 67s and both have the stop/check broken near the hinge. Both on the drivers side (more use).

Re: Door stops

Well the Truck shop has them for 60-66, but not 67. I called Early Classics and was put on eternal hold. So I emailed them 3 days ago. Still no response.
Any way I guess these may be a swap meet thing.

Re: Door stops

Well I have learned the proper name for these are Door Check Retainer.
A.P., you are correct. American Classics does carry them. But at $35 each, I can buy new complete hinges with he check retainer installed for the same price.
Also, Early Classics got back with me. They do not sell them separately.
Thanks for all the help.

Re: Door stops

I just rebuilt mine from scratch, it was pretty easy. I'll tell you how if you are still interested.
