Heavy Rubber Bed Mat? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Not sure if this should be here or in General Discussion...

I have a hard plastic (slippery) drop-in bedliner in my truck, and have been thinking recently of adding a bed mat. I started looking online and found some that say they'll fit '67-'87. Then I got to wondering if anyone has improvised with anything -- for instance, an 8' length of 4' wide conveyor belt (does such a thing even exist?). Or is there something else out there that anyone has used? I'll be throwing chainsaws, firewood, garbage cans, dogs and who knows what else on it so it'll need to be tough & durable, and of course not rot from constant exposure.

I have one in my '67 C-30 dually, but I didn't make it. It came out a '84 Chevy LWB truck that I parted out. It fit perfectly though.

Yeah, the 4' conveyor belt is out there, haven't tried it in the truck
but I have two 20' strips crossways in front of the garage (my 'asphalt' pad) It's 1/4" thick, darn heavy, but I can jack on it and roll a creeper real good, sure beats the dirt it replaced. This was old stuff from a mine, but it hasn't rotted away yet.

There are universal bedmats you can buy in the LxW dimensions of your bed, and you cut out the wheel well openings. I have one in my truck and it looks great.

MXmaniac, that does look good.

I searched quite a bit last night for conveyor belt pieces, no luck. If I don't find one soon, I'll just order one of the pre-cut mats I found online. Probably not as heavy as belt material, but will likely do just fine.

I have a universal one in my bed, looks just like the one in Mxmaniac's truck, and I love it.

i have one that was given to me by a guy at my dad's work, custom made for that truck, don't know anything about it, though

You can go to livestock feed store or farm supply store and buy horse stall matts they are about 1/2 to 3/4 in and they are very tough and skid resistent
