panhard rod

when you attatch the panhard rod to the dif, on the '67 - should you have to pull the frame of the truck up to you to make the connection? mine does - and when I go around the corner, it seems like it has a little switch to it.

re

The position of the panhard in relation to the differential mount is relative to how high the frame is above the ground. You can pull on the panhard or raise or lower the body with a jack to get a slip fit. I'm not sure what you meant by switch???? My '71 had a loud clicking comming from the rear end. You could hear it when I would push the box sideways in back. It turned out to be an elongated hole in the upper frame panhard mount that allowed movement of the panhard. I found a replacement mount but I haven't ground off those rivets yet. Hope this helps. TJ

I'm just finishing the rebuild on my rear-end suspension. I have everything back together with the exception of the panhard bar, and the lower shock plates. When I wento to put it in I noticed that the bracket welded onto the axle is actually rotated about 2 degrees. Therefore, I'm going to have to use a bottle jack to push the 3rd member housing down 2 degrees long enough to get the panhard bar in. I bet it's set up that way on purpose to make sure there's no play, because I haven't changed the pinion angle, and the saddles are in good shape. I also remember having to use the 2lb hammer to get it out when I was taking things apart. I just didn't notice the angle until I was putting it back in...
