Craig's List, with no controls, can really bring out some crazy stuff.
I just listed some truck parts for the weekend, http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/pts/665490038.html, and almost immediately someone relisted my ad, using my same pictures of my trucks...Only they changed the words, logos and phone #s and made it look like it was an ad from another truck parts dealer. They even used the same title. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/665573675.html
This keeps happening, but so far Craig's List has not fixed the problem.
I don't know whether they are trying to hassle me, or even both of us.
Take a look...it is really strange.

What the heck is up with that? Seems like its happened several times.

It looks like Wes might have some sort of weird fan, and he/she tries to send all the truck business his way. Cant Craigs List look up IP's and get this sorted out?

Hope you get it worked out. Plenty of room for more than one truck supplier out here.

Craigslist is free unlike its Ebay partner. I will deal with some crap for free.

What good is a botched ad,free or not?Even once it`s fixed guys will just see it again and think,"Oh,it`s that stuff again" or "Must want too much",etc.This really suchs and makes raigslist worthless (that`s less than free).You`d think they`d want to do something about it to keep it alive.

you could put your business name in the photo like you see done on ebay. Would make people stop using you pics. And if not your name is on there listing.

What the heck is this??????????? I would also like to get to the bottom of this.. Anyone who calls me looking for any used parts will be dissapointed!! I caught holy heck from the Washington State Patrol Commercial Division for selling used parts. They accused me of running a wrecking yard and threatened me with fines, different government deptartments, and everything but the kitchen sink to get me to stop!!! I don't part out vehicles any more!! Cripes this is all I need!! WES

Very odd. It looks to me like someone might have a grudge against Wes and/or Frank. Seems like a lot of effort for what I would assume is little outcome.

This is about the forth time this has happened in the last few months.
Craig's List tells me they can't ID the exact sender, only the IP and couldn't disclose the actual sender without a "court order"...or something like that.
Remember, I am on old gear head & not a computer geek...so I can't do much more than read an email.

craigs list is nice since it's free but some of the rules are really strange. my girlfriend raises dachshunds and every time she posts puppies on there she gets flagged in a matter of minutes, yet i can go to the "erotic" section and get any type of sex you can imagine (no, i've never bought sex from there). the local police just busted a prostitution ring in the next town over that was advertising on there.
Frank and Wes are both good guys and i hope this turns out fine for both of them. somebody must be really bored to pull this kind of crap.

E-bay owns 25% of Craigslist and would love to put them out of business so I wouldn't be a bit surprised if some linkage is found.
We see BS listings for cars all the time on CL--too nice and too low priced. The adds get pulled but---Craigslist doesn't have the controls in place to prevent some of this abuse.

I have never done it, but you do need a picture edit program that does watermarking. I do good myself some days to figure out how to turn the computer on myself.

As far as the picts go, you could google a watermarking program.
Or, you could use Photoshop, JASC Pain...etc.
Or, you could try kijiji.com. It's eBay's free classifieds site.
