My dads 1992 1500 has rear drums, I cant get the drum off the wheel that is stuck so I think the break is locked up. How do I get pressure off the break so I can get the drum off?

Re: Breaks stuck!! help

Lower back plate has an oval rubber plug. Pull it out and use a screw driver to roll the "star" wheel to let the brakes go in. A rubber mallet straight onto the front surface of the drum helps too.

Re: Breaks stuck!! help

You have to push the little arm that rides on the star wheel back with a slim screwdriver, while turning the star wheel. If it gets tighter you're going the wrong way. If the drum is froze to the axel hub you'll need more than a rubber mallet. A big hammer should suffice. Pound on the front of the drum around the hub. Sometimes you need heat from torch.
