Changing Gears
I think I want to change gears in my GM Corp from 4.10 to 3.73's or 3.42's? Then i will have to change the front also which is a Dana 44. I have done some poking around but really have not found some overall directions. i assume if i buy used it is a direct bolt in if i can find them.
Any links or thoughts?

Re: Changing Gears
I think you are taling just changing the gears. If that is what you are talking about, it's not a direct bolt in and they will have to be set up. I've done it a couple of times and it's a real ***** and time consuming process.

Re: Changing Gears
i guess I am talking about the gear set. So drop the front of the axle out and replace it with another.

Re: Changing Gears
You won't find anything better than 4.10... there was a 3.90 that used to be avalible in the aftermarket, but 4.10 is as freeway friendly as you'll find for that rear.

Re: Changing Gears
So what do most people do? Do they just swap them out? I have another 3/4 ton rear at the house from a 69 2wd. I will take a look at what it is. What about the Dana. I would assume that is as common as a house mouse.
