5.3 Gen III in my 70 C10

I will be dropping in a 5.3 in my truck. Can anyone shed some light on where i can start. I am planning to pull the 283 that was in there ASAP, along with the t300. I want to strip the whole engine compartment. I willbe rewiring using a painless harness (dont have it yet).

Any tips on the order would be greatly appreciated.

To make life easier, when you order your painless kit get the "terminated" kit, it comes with all of the connectors on the wires, versus just cut wires.

Re: 5.3 Gen III in my 70 C10

These links should save you the effort of searching, and save you from reading lots of unnecessary crap - a ton of us have already done this swap here, there are hundreds of ways to do it, so read what other people have done and decide what is in your budget/what is easiest for you:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=125

My entire buildup thread @ LS1tech with LOTS of pictures and lots of fabrication ideas, configuration ideas, very explicit details about fuel system, etc.:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=370781

(you'll need to sign up to see the pictures attached to my posts at that forum)

Might want to look at this thread also:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=233302

Of course, after you read all that, if you got questions, bump this to the top and ask away. Someone will usually answer, as long as it's not something a person has asked a thousand times already in previously linked threads (which seems to happen way too often)

Good luck
