Need help with front driveshaft for my '91 Blazer

All right I got another truck I know I need pics I will get them up later this week. The one major problem is I need a front driveshaft. I was told '73-'87 Chevy and gmc truck and '73-'91 Suburban as well as '73 and up full size blazer driveshafts will work is this true? I know I need to measure to be sure I just want to know all what ones would work. Thanx for any help and input!

Re: Need help with front driveshaft for my '91 Blazer

Not entirely. I think you will have better luck if you can find one from an 80ish and newer Blazer/Suburban/Truck.

The front driveshafts are different lenghts based on what type of tranny & transfer case you have. Also, how the front driveshaft bolts up to the output of the t-case can be different. I'm not sure when it changed, but the older ones are different.

My friend is in a similar situation with his 76 Blazer. Someone stole both of the driveshafts from it and I found replacements off a shortbed truck that had an SM-465/NP-203. The Blazer is SM-465 with an NP-205. I had the rear driveshaft shortened and was hoping the front would bolt up, turns out the front will need to be shortened too.

Hope this helps.

Re: Need help with front driveshaft for my '91 Blazer

Does the 91 have any lift? Is it an auto or stick? The t-case should be an NP241, pretty much the same as a NP208 but has an electronic speedo. You should be able to use a front shaft from any 4x4 pick up from 81-87 and any blazer or burb from 81-91...

Re: Need help with front driveshaft for my '91 Blazer

Yea thanks for the advice. I ended up getting one off a early 80's Blazer and it bolted right up so thats good.
