Expedition IRS...
I know there's been a lot of talk about using an Expedition IRS and inquiries about the pros and cons. I also know there's been at least one 67-72 that's had a custom chassis built with an Expedition IRS out back (pretty sure it's an editor of Sport Truck's project?)
Anyways, I just got done installing one in a 50 Merc. Not quite a truck, but the IRS would definitely cross over nicely. Pretty much all anybody would want to keep would be the center section, the axles, the hubs, and the brakes. I don't think the rest of the components would be easily incorporated. I went ahead and did some fabricted control arms, and spindles this time around, but will deinitely do tubular arms on the next one. The axles will have to be narrowed for this application, but they should work nicely on a C10. The differential on this thing is HUGE... I am sure it could handle a ton of torque. It's not the prettiest thing, but for the money I think it's a good IRS candidate. here's some pics of the merc. chassis...

Re: Expidition IRS...
It is a custom chassis I built, and I used C4 front suspension with bags... the shockwaves just weren't getting us the extra 1.5" of travel we needed.

Re: Expidition IRS...
Very nice work. Do you use a CNC plasma to cut stuff out? If Im not mistaken the expedetion uses a 9.75" ring gear and is plenty stout. Heres a couple of pics on the early and late expedition IRS set-ups, I think the one with the red calipers is like 06-earlier and the other 07-up.

I cut everything out by hand with a torch.... yeah right! I used to use a hand plasma and grinder... then I was able to purchase a CNC plasma about four years ago. It makes life so much easier!
