Arnott valves?

Well, I'm not getting much of an answer on another forum...

I found this on ebay what do you guys think? Looks pretty slick. Any body have any experience with this company, or even hear of them?

and yes, I realize it says 3-5 second rise time. I'm so sick of jarring my head on the roof with my 1/2 valves and line. I want something nice, easy, and classy.

Re: Arnott valves?

Funny you should ask, I've been looking at hand control they make, It shows bag and tank pressure on the LCD.

Re: Arnott valves?

Also, for $815, this looks like a sweet setup. Not sure how I would like 1/4 line, but with enough air, it might be an option for my truck.

<edit> I was going to run 2 tanks and 2 compressors.

Re: Arnott valves?

I am a fan of 1/4" line myself. Very controlled.

I remember checking into that set-up before... it looked pretty decent.

Considering how insanely fast my 1/2" setup was last time, I figure this might be it for mine. Using ViAir comps and the same fittings I used last time, the controler has to be at least as good as my ghetto $25 setup was. If the valves suck, that's easy enough to swap out for the Ride Tech brick.

I wish I could see the valves, guess I will when they arrive.

Nate, have you used 2-way valves? That's what it looks like these are.

Re: Arnott valves?

smashingchuck, I also have 1/2" valves and got tired of the neck jarring effect of them. I install 1/4" lines coming out of my valves and it is perfect now. Accu Air has a new system coming out that will adjust your system as you drive, always keeping it at the same suspension travel. There system requires smaller valves, we installed the system on a tahoe we did a few years ago with 1/2 valves. We also switched the lines out to 1/4" lines. His system works sweet now!
It would be worth it to try 1/4 line out of the valves.

I would think that this would be the cheapest and easiest way to go.

Re: Arnott valves?

I definitely want a much more controlled slower system then the one I've had. I currently have 1/2 valves and half inch line.

What would I use to hard line 1/4" line? What valves would you recommend?

I can tell you this: I had 1/2" and went to a 3/8" neck down with a 1/8" orafices on the vents. I think the drop rate is perfect now but I'm going to replace all my line with 1/4" hardline. 3/8" fill is still too fast for me. My tank runs at 175#

I had both dump and fill adjusters with my 1/2 setup and was able to dial in both. The added bonus of the dump adjuster was it also silenced it as well. It was cool to dump for affect, but my neighbors hated it in the off hours.

<edit> I am looking to run hard lines with this setup if I can.

It looks to me like the actuators are screwed in, so you could replace that. The manifold is in pairs, so you could unbolt the block and replace a pair. Other then the 1:2 manifold:actuator association, it's straight forward.

They are serviceable... I have had to replace an o-ring in one of the solenoids before. Very simple.

Re: Arnott valves?

i checked them out before i went with something else. what really caught my attention was the controller, but i didn't like the fact that they only had six valves, maybe they changed that now. i also have 1/2 line and valves, but if it is too fast i will add some speed control valves for both fill and discharge

Not to sound stupid but.... What is the problem with 6 valves? Why would this be a issue?

Re: Arnott valves?

Yeah I've thought about just keeping the stuff I've got and using flow controls... but I'd really like something that a little cleaner.

wow is that AccuaAir expensive! It would be cool, but I have bigger fish to fry right now!

JimmyDean- where can I buy that Viar valve block?

The only other block I am aware of that is worth a damn is the Air Ride Technology "Big Red" and it's $750.

There is also the Asco 3/8 manifold I've seen for $400.

Last time, I just used a bunch of brass fittings from Suicide Doors and made individual units for each bag. It worked very well, but wasn't the cleanest install. I am looking to go a lot cleaner this time.

Unless the Arnott system totally sucks, it should work for me. If it turns out to be crap, I'll just swap out the manifold and controller with the Big Red system and run the same 7 switch setup I had last time.

Re: Arnott valves?

The Asco unit is basically the same thing as the "big red" for a lot less. It is supposed to be a quality piece. It has gotten good review over at s10forum.com

If I didnt already have all my valves, I would probably go with that.

Asco has been making industrial valves for a long time. It might be an option should the one that comes with the system suck.

I hope to get some crap ordered in the next few weeks. Having 2 projects is hard on the wallet.

Accu air is coming out with a less expensive version that will do it all. Call them up and ask for Reno. He will help you out!

Is this going to be different then what they show on their site? I really like there valve pack with the circuit board to eleminate the wires.

Re: Arnott valves?

I am ordering the Arnott system I posted earlier and adding a second tank/compressor. So dual ViAir 380's and dual 2.5 gallon tanks.

Should be quick to fill compared to the painful process of trying to fill a single 7 gallon with one Thomas compressor last time
