Poly Tank Fuel Filler Installed !
i am posting some pictures of how i figured to install the poly tank under the bed. i bought the basic kit wich comes with the tank and sending unit and straps. it is up to us to figure out how to install it and hook up a fuel filler system. i thought i could put a filler in the floor board over the inlet on the tank, but there didn't seem to be enough room. so i looked around and found a fuel filler door assy. online at hagenstreetrods.com . you can get the door to hinge from either side and the door can be any shape you want. i cut out an 5.25x7.75 hole in ny bed side and welded the assembly inplace. then had the local muffler shop make me a 1 1/2" pipe bent into a 45 and swelled one end to 2" to fit onto the assembly. i added a vent fitting to the tube and a fitting to the lowest corner of the box for a drain. the 1 3/8 id fuel hose i found a hoseexpress.com . and the stainless 90 ddegree 1 3/8 od mandrel elbow at classictube.com. thes fuel door assenbly comes with a fill thru cap.so there is no need to rub your knuckels on the small door opening. so cool ! i had to trim the rear x member to clear the tank and i made some brackets to keep the tank in place . as the molded in side lips are a bit on the narrow side and may slip out of place. i also tack welded the straps for a cleaner look. now the fuel system is done and i can get on with the rest of my restoration. i hope these pictures can help someone else who is thinking of how the heck does this poly tank go .

Don't forget to drop your tank back down & confirm you have a 90 ohm float it will be stamped if it is. I suspect mine isn't & heard of one other that wasn't too. Otherwise your stock fuel gage will only show 1/4 tank @ full if it has a 30 ohm.

Re: Poly Tank Fuel Filler Installed !
We did the same thing to my stepside. Another member cut up a blazer fill tube to make a filler neck for their truck (link below). We are working on a blazer fill tube conversion for mine. I will post some pictures when it is done.
Nice job. I like the exhaust to idea. I came up with another solution so I could use 1 1/2 inch marine tube. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=269994
