Got my Jimmy back

I had some repairs done on my Jimmy. I also had all the side trim and badging removed. Still far from perfect but its a start! Here are some pics before I covered it up, it is supposed to rain for the next few days. I'll get some top off pictures soon.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you remove all the trim and badges? Just didn't like the look?

Your grill looks great! I like the all chrome like yours but I can't find anyone that sells those. I can only find the ones that are black and chrome. Is that original or did you have it rechromed?

Sweet!

What all was repaired/fixed?
Any pics during the repairs?
How bad was it?

Glad it's back and your driving it.

Trim and badges were in bad shape and I've always been of the clean look myself.

I can always add them back later if I want, but I doubt I will.

Repop grill that was very difficult to get as straight as we did. It had the black painted trim and I removed it with acetone.

I've had a couple of threads on some of the repairs, I'll try to link them later.

Inner/outer rockers, a small part of the kick panels, and a couple inches of the floor.

New cam and lifters installed (still not running 100%)

overall the truck was in real nice shape but as I got into it I figured may as well fix it. Probably should have waited a year or two but got a great deal on the work.

Re: Got my Jimmy back

Here are some of the rot pictures from another thread
HERE

I will post some of the interior pictures on the next nice day.

Here is some more patching that I did
HERE

You can see the rest of the truck was pretty clean. After all the repairs, seam sealer and rust proofing we applied a bedliner to help protect from future rust. I'll post those pictures later.

Re: Got my Jimmy back

Lots of little hack jobs were repaired like this beautifull weld on the window frame! You can see how solid the rest of the floor in the back ground looks.

Re: Got my Jimmy back

Is it just the standard 72 grill from lmc and you removed the paint with acetone? Was it pretty easy?? Just making sure. It looks great

I got mine from GMC Pauls but they are probably all from the same manufacturer. And yes I removed the black paint with acetone. DO THAT OUTSIDE WITH A GOOD BREEZE, i'm still light headed and I did it months ago.

It was not an easy bolt in. It took a lot of massaging, enlarging holes etc but it looks way better than my original grill and re chroming is in the $1000-1500 range and my grill had some dings.

Thanks for the compliment!

The rims are just 8X15 chevy rims. I had center caps and trim rings on it before (the trim rings didn't fit the valve stem correctly) but I like the stock hubcaps better. I wish the front hubs stuck out just a little more but what can you do?

The tires are 31 X 10.50 X 15

Someday maybe mine will be almost as nice as yours!

I have the same rims and tires on mine rally wheels would like to have the stock hubcap look but would have to find 7x15 rims and buy new tires so I will stick with the rallies for now. Your Jimmy looks nice I like the color.
